Adult Course L3 Barbering 19+

Entry requirements
This is an intensive course and learners must be able to give 100% commitment to their studies and place of work.

You must have:

What will you learn on the course?

Level 3 covers a whole range of units to ensure that you are given a solid foundation within barbering.

You will be covering the following:

  • Provide shaving services
  • Creatively cut hair using a combination of barbering techniques
  • Design and create a range of facial hair shapes
    Provide hairdressing consultation services
  • Fulfil salon reception duties
  • Colour and lighten men’s hair

What can you do next?

You can gain employment from your Barbershop and work as a qualified barber. You may wish to open your own Barbershop and use the skills you have been taught at the Academy to further your career.

Barbering is rapidly becoming the most exciting and energic industry within the sector and there is no better time to start. Our advanced adult course offers you the opportunity to train with our highly skilled team and offer you all the tools to successfully become a barber.

You will be working towards a Level 3 in Barbering over a 50-week course, which is once a week.

Additional cost 

You will be required to purchase a kit, which can be tailored to individual budgets. Also, £10 will be required for the T-shirt and course folder.

Adult Learner Loan

If you’re planning to study at Level 3 or above you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan. These loans support adult learners by paying the fees in the form of a student loan.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

This is an intensive course and learners must be able to give 100% commitment to their studies and place of work.

You must have:

  • Learners must be between the age of 19-24
  • Should not be in employment with little work experience
  • Working with DWP or on Universal credit
  • A strong commitment to your training
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality
  • Enthusiasm and high motivation
  • Good communication skills

Our level traineeship programme offers an introduction into the creative world of hairdressing or barbering. Offering first hand work experience and potentially progression onto an apprenticeship following successful completion of the programme.

You will be working in a salon or shop for 2 days a week and attending the Academy 1 day a week over a 7-week course. 

Additional activities

Following a full initial assessment analyse learners yet to achieve a level 2 or equivalent in functional skills will be enrolment to upskill and have support sessions in Maths and English.

Any learners coming below level 1 in digital skills assessment and be enrolled on the level 1 digital skills course.

The course covers a whole range of work preparation activities to ensure that you are given a solid foundation for entry into the industry. You will be covering the following;

  • CV writing
  • Communication and work-ready activities
  • Basic vocational activities including- Reception work/ shampooing and finishing

What can you do next?

Successful completion of the programme could lead to an offer of an apprenticeship and the opportunity of working in a shop or salon.
