ABOUT THE COURSE
This is an opportunity to gain advanced skills that will lead you to a career in the exciting world of Hairdressing. Being an apprentice enables you to work hands on every day doing what you love. You will develop the skills to create different looks including clipper work, hair styling as well as English and maths, client communication and much more.
This is an intensive course and learners must be able to give 100% commitment to their studies and place of work. You must have:

• Enthusiasm and motivation
• Good communication skills
WHAT WILL I DO ON THIS COURSE?
You will gain the skills you need to continue a successful career in Hairdressing and will learn more about working in the industry. During your time at the Academy there will opportunities to participate in regional competitions where Reflections Training Academy have won many awards.
Functional skills in Maths and English will also be taught throughout your course unless this qualification was gained at school.
Here are the units that you will be required to complete in order to achieve your NVQ level 2 Diploma:
Some of the units are compulsory and others are optional and will be discussed at induction.
Mandatory Units (all must be complete)
• Style & finish hair
• Set and dress hair
• Cut hair using basic techniques
• Colour and lighten hair
• Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp
• Develop and maintain effectiveness at work
• Advise and consult with clients
Plus 1/2 of the following optional units depending on credits
• Relax hair
• Perm and neutralise hair
• Plait and twist hair
• Attach hair to enhance a style
• Fulfil salon reception duties
• Remove hair extensions
• Cut men's hair using basic techniques
WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?
Anyone with a keen interest in the Hairdressing industry who is committed and motivated to succeed.
HOW IS THIS COURSE ASSESSED?
You will be allocated an assessor, who will be visiting you in your place of work throughout your course and also in the Academy.
At the end of your course there will be a final assessment in both practical and theory.
WHAT CAN I DO NEXT?
You can gain employment from your hair salon and work as a junior stylist. You may wish to progress onto your Level 3 Hairdressing or try something different on our Barbering Course.
You will be required to purchase a standard kit. The cost is around £75. The information will be given to you on our pre-inductions which take place every Thursday, once you join the Academy, to prepare you ready to start your training.
You will need an interview for this course - Interviews take place at the Training Academy Monday – Friday all year round. You will meet with our Recruitment team for around 1 ½ hours, we will cover all aspect of the course and if you already have a salon to work in then you can continue working there.
