NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Barbering

About the course: This is an opportunity to gain advanced skills that will lead you to a career in the exciting world of Barbering. Being an Apprentice enables you to work hands on every day doing what you love. You will develop the skills to create different looks including clipper work, hair styling as well as English and Maths, client communication and much more.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
This is an intensive course and learners must be able to give 100% commitment to their studies and place of work. You must have:
•    A strong commitment to your training and work place
•    Excellent attendance and punctuality
•    Enthusiasm and high motivation
•    Good communication skills


WHAT WILL I DO ON THIS COURSE? 

You will gain the skills you need to start a successful career in Barbering and will learn about working in the industry. During your time at the Academy there will opportunities to participate in regional competitions where Reflections Training Academy have achieved many awards.

Functional skills in Maths and English will also be taught throughout your course unless you gained these qualifications in school.

The units you will be covering are as followed:

•Cut men's hair using basic techniques
•Cut facial hair to shape using basic techniques
•Dry and finish men’s hair
•Create basic outlines and detailing in hair
•Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp
•Develop and maintain effectiveness at work
•Advise and consult with clients


Plus 1/2 of the following Optional Units Depending on credits:

•Relax hair
•Assist with shaving services
•Colour and lighten men's hair
•Perm and neutralise hair
•Plait and twist hair
•Attach hair to enhance a style
•Fulfil salon reception duties

WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR? 

You have a keen interest in the Barbering industry and committed and motivated to succeed.

HOW IS THIS COURSE ASSESSED? 

You will be allocated an assessor, who will be visiting you in your place of work throughout your course and also teaching you in the Academy.
At the end of your course there will be a final assessment in both practical and theory.

WHAT CAN I DO NEXT?

You can gain employment from your Barber shop and work as a junior barber. You may wish to progress onto Level 3 Barbering or maybe Level 2 Hairdressing.


ADDITIONAL COST

You will be required to purchase a standard kit. The cost is around £75. The information will be given to you on our pre-inductions which take place every Thursday, once you join the Academy, to prepare you ready to start your training.

INTERVIEW

You will need an interview for this course - Interviews take place at the Training Academy Monday – Friday all year round. You will meet with our Recruitment team for around 1 ½ hours, we will cover all aspects of the course and if you already have a salon to work in then you can continue working there. If you need help to find another salon to do your Level 3 then we are here to help.
 


NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Barbering

Below are the units that you will be required to complete in order to achieve your NVQ level 3
Barbering. Some of the units are compulsory and others are optional and will be discussed at
Induction. You will need a Level 2 Barbering qualification to begin this course.


Mandatory Units (all must be complete):


•Provide shaving services
•Creatively cut hair using a combination of barbering techniques
•Design and create a range of facial hair shapes
•Provide hairdressing consultation services


Plus 1/2 of the following optional Units depending on credits:


•Colour and lighten men’s hair
•Perm and neutralise hair
•Design and create patterns in hair
•Provide a variety of relaxing services
•Hair colour correction services
•Develop and enhance your creative hairdressing skills
•Provide specialist hair and scalp treatments
•Contribute to the planning and implementation of promotional activities
•Contribute to the financial effectiveness of the business
•Fulfil salon reception duties

WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR? 

You have a keen interest in the Barbering industry and committed and motivated to succeed or you have now completed your L2 are ready for the next stage.
 

WHAT CAN I DO NEXT?

You can gain employment from your Barber shop and work as a qualified barber. You may wish to open your own Barbershop and use the skills you have been taught at the Academy to further your career.
